Over three million pounds of Premium Bonds prizes –including one for £100,000 – remain unclaimed from NS&I customers based overseas.

NS&I’s latest Quarterly Savings Survey has revealed that the steady rise in savings levels seen over the last year, from 7.42% of income saved in summer 2013 to 8.21% in spring 2014, came to an end in the summer. Britons are now saving 7.63% of their income each month.

NS&I will be discussing how Britons are changing the way they save at the Personal Finance Society’s regional conference being held at the Ivy Hill Hotel, Furze Hill, Chelmsford, on Wednesday 1 October. The event is open to members of the Personal Finance Society based in their Essex Region.

In the 2014 Budget the Chancellor announced that NS&I would help support savers by increasing the Premium Bonds investment limit from £30,000 to £40,000, and by adding a second £1 million jackpot prize to the draw. Therefore, for the first time since March 2009, this month ERNIE has made two lucky millionaires!
