New Year celebrations for two Premium Bonds £1 million jackpot winners from Liverpool and Gloucestershire
- The first Premium Bonds jackpot winners of 2025 are from Liverpool and Gloucestershire
- ERNIE has drawn more than 5.8 million prizes this month, worth over £429 million
- The Gloucestershire winner’s Bond was the first time it had been eligible for the prize draw
ERNIE has kicked off 2025 by creating two new Premium Bonds jackpot millionaires from Liverpool and Gloucestershire.
There were more than 5.8 million prizes in January’s draw, resulting in a payout of over £429 million to Premium Bonds holders.
The first Bond number drawn was 492XB861312 and is held by a winner based in Liverpool. The winner has a holding of £37,025 in Premium Bonds and purchased their winning Bond in March 2022. They become the third jackpot winner from Liverpool.
The second Bond number to win £1 million this month was 601RW421962 and the Bond holder lives in Gloucestershire. The winner holds £50,000 in Premium Bonds and obtained their winning Bond in November 2024. They are the ninth Premium Bonds jackpot millionaire from Gloucestershire.

Premium Bonds: a secure way to start saving in 2025

With a minimum investment of £25, savers can start their journey while, each month, having the chance to win tax-free prizes.
Each £1 Bond is entered into the monthly draw, where prizes range from £25 to £1 million, making it an engaging way to save.
Unlike traditional savings accounts, Premium Bonds combine the security of savings backed by HM Treasury with the excitement of potentially winning tax-free prizes.
Checking prizes
Premium Bonds holder's can check if they’ve won a prize in the January draw from Friday 3 January, by visiting the NS&I website, using the prize checker app, or asking Alexa.
To check on the NS&I website, bond holders need their Premium Bonds holder’s number.
For the app, either a Premium Bonds holder's number or an NS&I number will work. People can also check for unclaimed prizes that may be waiting for them to claim.
January 2025 prize draw breakdown
A total of 5,851,240 prizes worth £429,090,875 will be paid out in the January 2025 prize draw. There were 128,727,262,710 Bond numbers eligible for the draw.

Unclaimed prizes
Premium Bonds prize winners receive notifications of their winnings if they have registered their contact details. However, there are instances where customers relocate or forget to update their contact details with NS&I.
This can lead to unclaimed prizes, especially for those who opt to receive their prizes via cheque rather than bank transfer. People with original paper Bonds can register them online or by calling the helpline on 08085 007 007.
In Liverpool, there are 8,974 unclaimed prizes worth £325,025. The largest unclaimed prize in Liverpool is worth £5,000 and was from the May 2023 draw. The oldest unclaimed prize is worth £25 and is from the April 1965 draw.
In Gloucestershire, there are 22,409 unclaimed prizes worth £775,125. The largest unclaimed prize in Gloucestershire is worth £5,000 and is from the April 2019 draw. The oldest unclaimed prize is worth £25 and is from the July 1962 draw.
Customers can choose to have their prizes paid directly to their bank account or reinvested into more Premium Bonds. Nine in 10 prizes are already paid this way as it is quicker than waiting for a cheque and then paying it in.

Currently, there are 2,498,733 unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes worth £92,343,925 waiting to be claimed.
