ERNIE MAKES TWO MILLIONAIRES IN BRISTOL AS PREMIUM BONDS TURN 65

Today is a momentous day for Premium Bonds as it marks 65 years to the day that the product first went on sale. On the 65th anniversary, ERNIE, the random number generator, has selected two millionaires, both from Bristol.

The first number drawn by ERNIE was 332GB855665, belonging to the winner who holds a total of £38,000 in Premium Bonds. The winning Bond was purchased in June 2018.

209DZ100774 was the second Bond number drawn. The winning Bond was purchased in July 2013 and the winner holds a total of £25,004 in Premium Bonds.

The two winners become the twelfth and thirteenth winners from the Bristol area.

Bristol leading the charge in 2021

November’s millionaires are the third and fourth jackpot winners from the Bristol area this year, which is more than any other area so far in 2021.

There are more than 277,000 Premium Bonds holders in Bristol who hold more than £1.2 billion in the product between them. Meanwhile, there are also more than 23,000 unclaimed prizes worth more than £800,000 in Bristol.

Customers can choose to have their prizes paid directly to their bank account or have their wins reinvested into more Premium Bonds, eligible from the very next draw. This will reduce the chance of Premium Bonds going unclaimed. Almost nine in ten prizes are now paid in this way, and this is quicker, easier and more secure than receiving them via cheque.

Customers can find out more about the benefits of getting their prizes paid directly into their bank accounts or automatically reinvested into more Premium Bonds here.

Jill Waters, NS&I Retail Director, said: “2021 has been a lucky year for Premium Bonds holders in Bristol, with the fourth jackpot win recorded in the area so far this year. With one draw left in 2021, I’m sure that the millions of other Premium Bonds holders will be crossing their fingers that they’ll be next in line for a windfall from ERNIE – and make it a Christmas to remember.

“It’s also a big month for Premium Bonds as today marks 65 years since they went on sale. With 114,006,329,133 Bonds eligible for this month’s draw, they are bigger than ever and with more than 3.2 million prizes this month, there’s millions of opportunities for people up and down the country to be surprised and delighted by Premium Bonds wins. There’s no better way to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Premium Bonds than by changing two peoples’ lives by making them millionaires – and we hope to make many more through one of the nation’s favourite savings product in the coming years.”

Different ways to check to find out if you have won Premium Bonds prizes

Aside from the two jackpot winners, there were over 3.2 million other prizes paid out this month between £25 and £100,000.
