Emma Taylor, Head of HR & Learning and Development

At NS&I we offer exciting and varied roles across a range of business areas, from retail, finance, strategy, risk, partnerships and business-to –business. When we welcome people to NS&I we are proud of the diverse talent that make up our work-force, and the diversity of skills that we continually help our people to develop as they build their career with us. It’s really important that everyone who works with us, or who thinks of applying to join us understands clearly the offer we give our staff and the high expectations we have in return, the ‘give’ and the ‘get’. For example we expect all our people to have a genuine care for customers, internally and externally and in return we will give you the space to work flexibly in meeting customers’ needs; we will expect curiosity and energy from our people and we give everyone who works with us the space to innovate. I have worked as Head of HR for 2 years having started as an undergraduate intern in HR and then returning as an HR officer after spending my early career working in a busy HR team for a police force after graduating. It’s been fantastic to grow my career here and, as a parent to two small boys I can see now more than ever why the balance we offer all of our employees, to grow their career and their personal lives, is so valued. As well as the important benefits we offer, it’s the environment that is also key – we have a unique business and a unique work-force who are agile and who we encourage to develop both in NS&I and for themselves, whether they are motivated by working in the private or public sectors. Bringing in new people and developing our staff keeps me both busy, and inspired.
