Savings levels up in summer 2015 as Britons aim to build their savings pots in the run-up to Christmas
Savings levels in Britain rose over the summer months putting Summer 2015 as the healthiest on record for levels of personal savings in a decade, the latest research from NS&I reveals.
October 2015 Premium Bonds prizes
For the October 2015 draw, ERNIE paid out over 2.2 million prizes of more than £64 million in value. There were 57,246,978,536 eligible Bond numbers in the draw.
NS&I reduces interest rate on Direct ISA
NS&I today announced that it is reducing the interest rate on its Direct ISA by 0.25% to 1.25% tax-free/AER. This change will come into effect from 16 November 2015.
NS&I provisional Q1 2015-16 results
NS&I today published its latest unaudited quarterly figures, for the first quarter (April-June 2015) of the financial year 2015-16. In Q1 2015-16, NS&I delivered £5.4 billion of Net Financing and £22 million of savings to the taxpayer – as measured by the Value Indicator.

For the September 2015 draw, ERNIE paid out over 2.1 million prizes of more than £63 million in value. There were 56,773,716,617 eligible Bond numbers in the draw. This brings the grand total of prizes since the first draw in June 1957, to 325 million and the value of those prizes to £16 billion.
August 2015 Premium Bonds prizes
For the August 2015 draw, ERNIE paid out over 2.1 million prizes of more than £62 million in value. There were 55,889,340,839 eligible Bond numbers in the draw. This brings the grand total of prizes since the first draw in June 1957, to 322.5 million and the value of those prizes to £16 billion.
Britons average monthly savings rise by over 50% in ten years
British people’s average monthly savings have increased by over 50% during the past 10 years according to the latest NS&I survey, with women’s savings accelerating faster than men’s.
