NS&I announces new Non-Executive Director
The Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Harriett Baldwin MP, has appointed Ed Anderson as a Non-executive Director on the Board of NS&I, with immediate effect. He succeeds David Hulf who has served two three-year terms as a Non-executive Director at NS&I. Ed Anderson also succeeds David Hulf as Chairman of NS&I’s Audit and Risk Committee.
Non-executive members of NS&I’s Board ensure a sound strategy is in place to meet the organisation’s remit of raising cost-effective debt financing for the Government. They also act as an external source of advice, with oversight of risk control and ensuring NS&I’s links with its outsourcing partner, Atos, remain open and transparent.
Economic Secretary to the Treasury Harriett Baldwin said: “Ed Anderson is a welcome addition to NS&I’s Board. He brings exactly the right blend of experience and expertise that will complement the senior management team. I have every confidence that Ed will ensure that NS&I continues to deliver services that meet its customer needs and achieve value for money for taxpayers.”
Jane Platt, NS&I’s Chief Executive, said
“I am delighted to welcome Ed Anderson to NS&I’s Board and to our Audit and Risk Committee. Ed is an outstanding appointment whose background across commerce, financial services and local government will enable him to make an important contribution to NS&I.
“I would also like to thank David Hulf for his hard work and commitment over the past six years. David has played an important role in helping NS&I become a 100% direct business, delivering cost effective finance to the Treasury and developing NS&I’s business-to-business services.”
Ed was Chairman of the Yorkshire Building Society from 2007 to 2015. Currently he is Chairman of the Airport Operators Association (AOA).
In terms of his executive career, Ed has held a number of senior executive positions in the airports industry including Deputy Managing Director of East Midlands Airport and Managing Director of Leeds Bradford Airport. He also served as Executive Director (Development) of Leeds City Council.
He is a former President, and Chairman, of Leeds Chamber of Commerce and is a director of a number of other public and voluntary sector organisations in Yorkshire including being a member of the University of Leeds Council and chairing their Audit and Risk Committee. Ed is an economics graduate and a qualified accountant.
